What's new in VIKTOR (June 2023)

by VIKTOR

The time has come for June's platform update. For this month, we have been working on improving the navigation within tree-type apps with the new ChildEntityManager. Furthermore, it is now possible to host your project data in new regions, such as the UK.

Improved UX for tree-type apps

With the ChildEntityManager you can make it a lot easier for end-users to navigate through tree-type apps!

Implement the ChildEntityManager in the parametrization to access and create child entities directly from the corresponding editor. You can use this feature by upgrading to the latest SDK release (v14.2.0).

Regional hosting

We have added new regions to store your VIKTOR project data!

Previously, VIKTOR project data was always stored in the European Union. Due to legal requirements, this made it impossible to use VIKTOR on some projects. From now on, you can also run your complete VIKTOR enviornment in one of the other regions.

We also support a multi-regional setup. For convenience, data that is unrelated to projects is automatically synchronized, keeping it simple for users.

You can check the availability of a region in the documentation.

Community spotlight

In this second edition of the community spotlight, we want to highlight this awesome development by Johannes Mueller and Daniel Kreuter from Bosch in collaboration with our own colleague Thomas Nagels. Using Johannes' and Daniel's open-source Python package pyLife - a general library for fatigue and reliability, they created an easy-to-use VIKTOR application for mechanical engineers.

You can try the application yourself in the Apps Gallery or visit the pyLife GitHub repository to learn more about the open-source package.

Like to share your application with the rest of the community as well? Please let us know by sending an email to support@viktor.ai!
