VIKTOR is a pioneering startup that has developed a versatile web application development platform specifically tailored for engineers. Our platform leverages a Python-based software development kit (SDK) to help engineers build applications that integrate, automate, and optimize engineering workflows, with a focus on domains such as geotechnical engineering.
What will you do

Design, develop, and train a Small Language Model (SLM) that can understand and generate engineering-specific content to enhance our web application development capabilities
30%
Conduct a comprehensive analysis of existing open-source VIKTOR applications to extract engineering-specific data and insights

Collaborate with our engineering team to identify specific needs and opportunities where LLMs can be integrated into our platform

Test the performance of the developed SLM against existing out of the box large-scale models, focusing on accuracy, efficiency, and relevance in engineering contexts

Document the development process and results, contributing to internal knowledge and potentially publishable material
We are looking for a highly motivated Master’s student for an internship that involves developing a niche Small Language Model (SLM) dedicated to engineering applications. This project aims to explore the hypothesis that a specialized, domain-specific SLM can outperform generalist LLM models provided by major players in the industry by focusing on targeted, engineering-related content.

Your profile
Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Computer Science, Robotics, AI, or a related field
Strong programming skills in Python and experience with software development
Previous experience with machine learning and language model training
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
Plus: Knowledge of or experience in engineering fields, particularly geotechnical engineering
Plus: Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and tools
